***** Like listening to a friend's riveting story!
This was the most amazing personal narrative. From the first few sentences, I felt as if I were a personal friend of Kathleen's because of the intimacy of her writing style. I could not wait to find out what was going to happen next. I wanted to binge-read it all at one sitting!
I read the book once to learn about Kathleen's remarkable healing journey from a very complicated brain surgery. Then I read it slowly a second time to take notes. There is so much wisdom in it. Practically every single thing she wrote is valuable or entertaining or both. It is one of the most helpful books I have ever read to show us how to heal ourselves from any undesirable health condition. The principles she discovered and used to heal can be applied by anyone whatever their age or level of understanding.
One of the notable features of the book is that its seeming simplicity of the conversational writing style can conceal important insights on a deeper level. I think a more thorough study could reveal many truths of the nature of the universe from a spiritual, metaphysical, and scientific viewpoint. Kathleen used these immutable principles to heal without delving into explanations as to how they worked. This appeals to her readers who are looking for how they can apply her insights in practical ways as she did.
One idea I took away was to focus on gratitude. This seemed to be a key component of her healing. I started an ongoing gratitude list and find that I am being grateful for almost everything that happens from the most trivial to the most momentous. And as with anything, the more I focus on being grateful, the more I notice to be grateful for.
I believe this book appeals to a universal audience. I can visualize anyone from a nine-year-old to a ninety-year-old finding it interesting, worthwhile, and inspiring to read Kathleen's story. The individuals who make the deepest positive impressions on us are the ones who have confronted their challenges and overcome them successfully. Kathleen achieved that when faced with one of the most urgent health conditions that one could imagine - the physical, mental, and emotional after effects of a very risky brain surgery. - Audrey44

***** Olivia found hope for the future.
It was an honor to read Kathleen Lowndes’s book…a book written with love, praising love and written by a lover! Kathleen is not only a brave woman but an excellent writer as well! Although this book is long, it is easy reading and not redundant. Every sentence offers a personal message!
I myself arrived in the USA as a child – a refugee from the 2nd World War – and was brought up by my uncle, Aldous Huxley, while we lived in the Antelope Valley, Mojave Desert. I was frequently present when he would modestly present his worldview on the future of America. To my ears, it was unbearably dismal and depressing and I desperately wanted to prove his “Brave New World” predictions INCORRECT!
So, I spent 20 years wandering the world—particularly Asia—in hopes of obtaining information to prove his predictions incorrect. I even gave up reading since I wanted to keep AWARE of the PRESENT MOMENT. However, to this day, I have not been able to provide any antithesis to his premise…
But how REFRESHING to read about how well Love works (and I write that word now with a capital “L”). It may well be the panacea to all our problems! Please check out this book. - Olivia de Haulleville.

***** How to defeat fear!
Lowndes’ journey is a real profile in courage and her insights into her handicapped students are particularly inspirational. Her book shows how a positive spirit can overcome any obstacle. - R. A. Jorgensen

***** A book worth reading!
Kathleen Lowndes has given the gift of sharing an intimate account of her human adventure into life. While reading her story I felt honored to be able to glimpse her soulful personal journey. Her journey is filled with universal challenges and themes which she faces sensitively allowing vulnerability to shine through. I was amazed at the reckoning with her self and with others which allowed growth and healing. Inspired? YES!!! - Kristin B. Stevens

***** A wonderful read.
Begin reading and you won’t stop until finished, an amazing true story. - Rayman

***** An inspiring story!
Kathleen Lowndes has written a riveting account of her life-threatening brain stem surgery and its aftermath. Yet, as she reveals, the ultimate fear was not facing and surviving the surgery, but rather facing her very own self. She undergoes a radical transformation thanks to the energy of love. Before the surgery, she asserted, "I am NOT going to die. I have too many wonderful things waiting to happen to me." The process of how that unfolds will inspire readers from start to finish. - Cynthia A.
